Superb - and large - 17th Century Huysmans portrait of a commander in armour, in front of a battle in gun smoke. In later gilt frame.

Huysmans was a favourite portrait painter of Catherine of Braganza, the wife of Charles II. He received numerous commissions at the court, and is mentioned in the famous diary of Samuel Pepys as a history and portrait painter in the same esteemed company as Peter Lely.
