A pair of early 19th century wooden dummy boards, painted with oil, depicting a boy with a spaniel and a girl with a basket of flowers dressed in typical 18th century style. Dummy boards, sometimes called Silent Companions, were traditionally used to adorn halls, corridors, fireplaces and landings. 

Minor marks and losses to the paint, likely some repainting to the faces. Freestanding (see pictures). Circa 1800.
